CTRL and F11 on startup. Just hold them down until the program starts up.

Does anybody know why Dell no longer ships Dell PC restore with the Inspiron 6000?
I bought my Inspiron two weeks ago, and realize that there is no Dell PC restore.
Technical support in Penang says this is per instruction from Microsoft.
To me, it would mean 2 hours for me to bring my notebook back to original state, rather than the 7 to 10 minutes using Dell PC restore. It makes no sense.

Please help me...I need to restore my PC fast.

Using the Advanced Forum Search on the bottom of this page, you can quite easily find the answer to this often asked question. 

They NEVER have shipped PC Restore on a CD.  They shipped a copy of Windows.  PC Restore was installed on the hard drive, which if you change the MBR by reinstalling XP or re-partitioning the system is lost.

Dell support is correct as to why.

If the Symantec PC Restore utility won't work, but still resides on your computer, a Dell customer has figured out some ways to get it to work again. Note - If you removed this partition, it is not recoverable, cannot be downloaded from the internet, and cannot be shipped from Dell. Click here for ways to fix Symantec PC Restore. Users have also reported that the partition can be restored with Ghost 2003, and Ghost 9 using the '03 capabilities of it. If you boot to the Ghost 9 CD, select Advanced Recovery Taks, select Utilities, then Restore Legacy IMage it should work - but you want to verify the image before attempting the restore. It's in a folder called IMG.

My question:

I guess Dell PC Restore is not even in the extra 3rd or 4th partition.  There are three partitions.  1) Diagnostics.  2) C drive.  3) PC Restore.

If so, what solution is there for me?   If it won't work with CTRL F11, then it won't work. 

 

BTW, I am a newbie and do not understand what MBR stands for.  Master Boot Record.  If you reinstalled XP or added a partition (you mentioned 4, did you use Partition Magic and add 1?) then the function stops workiing.
