Touchpad not working properly (M1330)
I received my M1330 yesterday. On first boot the touchpad didn't seem to work, but I put it down to Vista sorting itself out.
After a re-boot the touchpad worked fine all day (multiple reboots, turning machine on and off. installing Vista updates etc)
Today the touchpad is not working at all. Occassionally if I rub across the pad the pointer will jump about a bit. Also the left button doesn't seem to always pick up double clicks.
I have checked the Touchpad settings and tried moving the sliders (changing pressure, enabling Touchcheck and all the things the support wizard mentions).
Also updated the driver from Dell site. Driver shows no conflicts and working properly.
Not a great experience of my first Dell laptop!
Seems to me like it's faulty unless anyone can advise on other things to try.
Thanks
EDIT: Have now tried a factory reinstall, but nothing from the pad. Will try Dell support and try and get it replaced or something.

Yep it's the Synaptics.
I've also tried it with no Synaptics driver (as I believe Vista should pick up the touchpad anyway), and just as a 'can't hurt to try', I even gave the ALPS driver a go!
Since then I've done a factory reinstall, so gone back to Synaptics driver (version 8 I think, however I've also tried version 10 from the Dell site).
I've now spoken to Dell support. They are sending an engineer out tomorrow. Not only was the touchpad not working, but the left button was getting progressively more unresponsive. It all points to a hardware fault (I hope, as I can't think of anything else to try on the software side!)

Are you using the Synaptic Touch pad driver?
