USB and Serial Bus Controller Drivers Will Not Install!

Hi all,
For two days I have been trying to install all the drivers for the 9400.  Even with Dell's help, I have downloaded, burned and installed every driver file listed on the Dell Download page, 2 or 3 times each.
I am frustrated beyond belief!
Can anyone help?

Sincerely,
Jane

I installed both the Ricoh and the Intel chipsets.  I've installed the Intel one about five times.  It was such a quick install with no restart command, that I wondered if it was working.  But the last window of the blue background installation said: Install Finished.  I have not downloaded the Dell Notebook Software yet.  Would that matter.  These are the only problems in Device Mgr.

Go back, reinstall XP, then SP2, then the chipset driver and notebook system software, and then install the other drivers.

The chipset driver is needed before any other drivers are loaded.

Yes, I "installed" it first, in the middle of all the driver installations, and at the end.

Did you install the chipset driver first?

Which chipset driver is the first?  Is it the RICHO or the Intell one?  Also, should BOTH of the chipset drivers be installed before the Notebook driver?

    O.K.

I'll do the XP Pro install again and do what you suggested:smileysad:  These laptops are so finicky!

Thanks so much for your help.

    Best regards,

    Jane

Install the Intel chipset driver, then the notebook system software, then reboot and install the other drivers.
