Vostro 3550 : Issue using External VGA
When we connect an external VGA monitor, we have often refreshing issues, sometime there is no compatible frequency.
And even when it works, after a time (20-30 minutes) it jitters and and looses synchronisation, and therefore no more refreshing.
If we deactivate the internal Intel card, to keep the only the ATI, after rebooting we have a ATI issue message.
As well , when we try to update the ATI driver, the installer says the card is not compatible with the driver (ATI Radeo HD 6630M card, ATI Radeo HD6xxxM driver)
Does anyone had the same issues?
Any solution available?

Unfortunately, currently there is no option in BIOS to set only to use ATI adapter.
You tried to update driver by using ATI's mobility utility, the one that is 1MB in size? If so, it will not work.
But downloading files directly will get drivers installed, this is Catalyst 11.6:

When I have tried this by installing Catalyst 11.5, I encountered a problem that my adapter did not display correctly in device manager, it became "AMD Radeon HD 6400M Series" instead of "AMD Radeon HD 6490M". And most importantly switchable graphics did not work.
So unless there is a setting in BIOS to use only ATI adapter, or there is some improvement made by ATI for switchable graphics support, or some geek tinkering for switchable graphics to work after installing these, installing these drivers will just brake your system without any benefit.

For Dell to address Vostro 3350 woes, while this is still a new laptop model and Dell has to provide support for it.
