Can 2405fpw be used as a HDTV monitor?  If so, how, what equipment is necessary, and at what resolution (720p, 1080i?)  Will the 2405fpw ever be able to view 1080p HDTV broadcasting?  If I want to enjoy HDTV broadcasting, am I much better off buying dell's new 23" LCD/TV for my purposes?  Will HD picture on WSXGA LCD/TV be superior to HD on 2405fpw's WUXGA monitor?

I have considered buying the 2405fpw Monitor because of its exceptional resolution and contrast ratio.  I hope to use it in conjuction with my d/port replicatior (with DVI) and Latitude D800 with a nvidia Geforce4 4200 GO video card supporting my WUXGA screen (same resolution as the 2405fpw.) This is my first question: Although my systerm currently supports WUXGA resolution, will I be able to take advantage of the full potential of the resolution of the monitor at WUXGA or does the d/port replicator take that option away? 

 

Regarding HDTV:

Obviously, if I purchase a new LCD, I would like to be able to view HDTV programming.  Is this at all possible with the 2405fpw and an external box with DVI from a cable company for example?  If it is possible, would I be able to view 1080i immediately so long as it is provided by my provider?  Can the monitor be used as an HDTV monitor?  (There have been several reports on google that it is possible with a box with DVI at 1080i.)

 

Regarding 1080p:

Because of its WUXGA resolution (1920x1200,) I would love to think that it could support 1080p (1920x1080) resolution HDTV proramming when it becomes more available with the right equipment etc.  Am I completely mistaken?  I am trying to minimize the number of hardware upgrades I will need to make by the time we get to 1080p broadcasting and equipment. 

 

Regarding 2405fpw (Summary):

Will I ever be able to use the WUXGA resolution of the 2405fpw to view HDTV in its true 1080p glory?  Am I better off purchasing Dell's new 23" LCD/TV with WSXGA (1366x768) resolution right now, which is explicitly marketed and advertised as a HDTV-ready monitor and wait buy a 1080p monitor when they become more available in a couple of years?
