A question: I have a 2408WFP, for which I have my PC's resolution set to 1920x1200. Something occurred to me: what if my monitor were to die on me, and I would have to resort to using a spare monitor (ViewSonic VX910, max. resolution 1280x1024)? I just tried this, hooked up the ViewSonic (incl. rebooting in Safe Mode), and the ViewSonic just gives me an "Out of range" message. Is there a way to reset my PC's resolution to 1280x1024, so I can at least use the VX910 temporarily, and keep working? Or is my PC "stuck" on 1920x1200? And would the only way around this be to buy another 1920x1200-capable monitor?
My problem may be that this PC (brand new) is so fast that I can't get into safe mode. I have tried rebooting a bunch of times now (with 2408WFP attached), and all I get when I hit f8 is a boot sequence menu. Is it possible that on my PC the key for safe mode is different (older Microsoft Natural - split - keyboard)?

Thanks, but first of all, that sounds a bit scary; how would I get back out of this? Just reboot after Safe Mode?
Second: this is not the point. I am talking about a scenario where my 2408WFP suddenly fails--dead. I would then have to hook up a different monitor (VX910) and somehow get that to work, despite the fact that my PC is set for 1920x1200, which the VX910 doesn't support. Under this scenario, I wouldn't have the luxury of going through the steps you just described; I would have to be able to just boot into Safe Mode.
Well, good news and bad. The good: I figured out that for my motherboard (ASUS P5N-D), the Safe Mode key is not f8, but... f5. So knowing this, I am able to safe boot with my ViewSonic attached and change the resolution to match the ViewSonic's. One problem solved.
The bad (as if to confirm my fears about my 2408WFP dying on me): this afternoon, my 2408WFP started acting up in a big way. While I was working, it suddenly went into Power Save, came back a few seconds later, went back into Power Save after a few seconds, and kept repeating the same cycle. I finally turned it off, and after it sat off for a while, turned it back on. So far so good. So what could be causing this? Is this a known issue? Could it have something to do with overheating (it had been on all day)?
I had been experiencing some minor other Power Save issues, by the way, with the 2408WFP not coming out of Power Save when my PC comes out of "Nap mode", and requiring a reboot. I solved that (I think) by disabling "Nap mode". Clearly, though, this Safe Mode business is problematic...
I am using the analog connection, by the way--my video card does not support DVI.
