I have a new Dell E207wfp monitor (16:9 aspect ratio) and need help with settings.  I have poor vision, and can't see the print well at the recommended 1680x1050 resolution.  How do I set this monitor up so I (1) don't have skewed icons, have the largest print/icon view possible on the desktop, in word and in IE, but still see a web page (largest view possible) without having to scan to the right?  I don't want to use the visually impaired settings.  The monitor's online manual doesn't provide details.

 

I also noted that the recommended refresh rate is 60hz.  Wouldn't a higher refresh rate provide a better picture.
