Dell E228wfp Problem

My 15 month old Dell E228WFP recently has been acting up and i was hoping to possibly be able to fix it. After about 5 or so mins of run time the monitor back light will shut off but the power light stays green. If i turn the monitor off and wait a little bit i can then get another 5 mins of run time before it goes dark. Since the monitor is out of warranty i'm open to any ideas so I do not have to buy a new monitor. I've liked dell in the past but i don't think a $200 monitor should die a few months after the warranty expires.

    Out of warranty -
    * Bad Inverter Board Symptom: No Display ( No Picture) on screen but Power Indicate light stays on green or Screen Flickering
    * Order the DELL E228WFPc 715G2244-2 Inverter and Power Module

    Hi

Further to your E228WFP problem, I have 3 of these monitors one of them manufactured in August 2008 that has the same problem as yours, i have purchased and installed the DELL E228WFPc 715G2244-2 Inverter and Power Module  this was relatively easy to do and the monitor worked fine for a couple of weeks but has since crashed again with the same same symptoms' as before, i emailed LCD Repair and this was their reply    Usually this means that you also have a bad lamp which seems to be common on this model."

They also suggested in a further correspondence that the "bad lamp" would probably be the lower of the four and black in color, they also suggested that the monitor was worth repairing however no guidance on where to purchase replacement lamps, this is a stumbling block  at the moment and it looks like i will have to dismantle it again to get at the lamp and hopefully get a part number and then search the web to find a replacement.   Happy days
