G2724D, G-Sync without HDR?

Is it not possible to get the Dell G2724D to run G-Sync witthout having HDR on?

I find it kinda scummy that Dell advertises it as a G-Sync monitor. But you are forced to have HDR and the terrible Local Dimming feature on to use G-sync makes this screen almost unbearable to look at.
