MONITOR GOES INTO SLEEP MODE - model # se198wfpv
I have had this monitor for a couple of years (great monitor). it was attached to my wifes MAC. all of a sudden the monitor starting to go into the sleep mode. we could get it back up again by turning the power off and back on again several times. we would have to power cycle the monitor anywhere from 7 or 8 times to 25+ times to get the monitor to stay on after each occurnence
I bought my wife a new monitor and moved this monitor to my kids PC (not a MAC). The monitor does the same thing on the kids PC. One strange thing that I noticed last night is that when it goes into the "sleep mode", if you look real close at the monitor you can till see the icons and windows on the monitor, but they are really, really faint.
on the PC, i have turned off all the power save mode so i have the monitor and hard drive never turning off.
I realize that the problem is not the PC's as this same problem has occurred on both the orignal MAC and now the PC.
Any suggestions? Thanks.

I am sort of not a computer expert - not sure what the VGA and DVI is...

we just use the standard 15 pin cord to plug into the PC...when we had it plugged int othe MAC, we added some MAC adapter between the end of the cord and the MAC unit.

I have a similar problem with my Dell Monitor, and have found that instead of power cycling it, restoring factory settings works too. I have been powercycling it for the first 10 minutes of it's use every day for the last few years, and it finally decided today that it wouldn't return to the normal screen. I think there's something wrong with our autoadjust sensors because it seems to be just an issue of contrast. Tell me, if you unplug it from the computer and leave the power on, does it display the color test box, and then darken itself again?

thanks for your input...I will try this. do you reset the factory settings from the monitor menu or actually on the PC itself?

Yea ir does. when it is unplugged from the PC and I turn the monitor on, the color test box appears. it states Auto Detect...self test feature and the 4 color bars - the screen then goes blank, but the blue light (on light) stays in the blue mode.

From the monitor itself. Most dell monitors have 4 buttons in the bottom corner, excluding the power button. You just have to press menu, then go to factory reset. Then 'all settings' or something similar. For me it's first button, third button, first button third button, first button. (1-3-1-3-1)

Try to deinstall the Adobe Flash Player. That worked for me.

Does the issue occur when testing both VGA and DVI?
