U2312HM, buttons aren't working

 I have a DELL U2312HM monitor that is attached to a Mac mini. I cannot control its brightness. A "lock" icon appears on the screen when pushing the display buttons on the monitor. How do I unlock this?

    I found the answer online, and it worked!!

    Locked menu buttons that won’t allow you to access the menu or turn off the device

    To fix the problem:
    Press and hold the second from the right button for about 15 seconds
    After 15 seconds, you will see an 'open lock' icon indicating that the menu has been unlocked
    To lock the menu again after you've finished --do the same thing --press and hold the same button for 15 seconds!

    @tee4marie

    Good work finding solution.

    The online U2312HM User's Guide page 30 explains the process to unlock the Menu OSD using the #4 button above the #5 power button.

    Your Dell U2312HM's buttons are locked. To unlock, press and hold the menu button for 15 seconds until the lock icon disappears. Then, adjust brightness using Mac mini’s Display settings or software.
