U2413, 2012 Retina Macbook pro

I'm having a bit of a problem. I received my new monitor U2413 today. I gave connected the available cables that came with the monitor to my 2012 Retina Macbook pro. All I get it a floating message No DISPLAYPort Cable. I have read a few tutorials and read some info here on the forum but to no avail. There has to be a simple way yo get his monitor up and running. What an I doing wrong? Please advise which Cable I should be using and what do to.

Thank you!

Unfortunately, Dell does not test/validate this monitor model on Apple hardware, ports, and software. Because of this, Dell does not have many troubleshooting steps to offer. You could post on the Apple Discussions Forum and see what they say.

Some apple users have mentioned that using a thunderbolt to HDMI adapter or thunderbolt to DP adapter has had some success.

apple computer thunderbolt port --> thunderbolt to HDMI adapter --> Dell HDMI to HDMI cable TYH2W, W69C3 --> Dell monitor HDMI in port

apple computer thunderbolt port --> thunderbolt to DP adapter --> Dell DP to mDP cable --> Dell monitor mDP in port

apple computer thunderbolt port --> thunderbolt to mDP adapter --> Dell mDP to DP cable --> Dell monitor DP in port
