Help!
I have the Radeon X300 SE adapter installed in this new Dimension 8400. The pc & monitor work fine in all resolutions, when the monitor is normally oriented in the landscape mode.
I encounter problems when trying to use the monitor in portrait mode. I access the rotate function under Display Properties/Settings/Advanced/Rotation Tab. First of all, when I select "Rotate 90 Right", the response is backwards, rotating left, instead. If I choose Rotate 90 Left, then it rotates right, instead, but that's the way the monitor actually swivels on it's pedestal, so that's ok. But the reversed radio buttons on the rotation tab shouldn't work that way, so that's one problem.
The second problem surfaced when I try to restore to landscape orientation. Returning back to the Rotation Tab, I select "Standard Landscape". The computer respondes with warnings that my resolution doesn't match and states the adapter/monitor will return to standard VGA mode. Restarting the computer sometimes does not fix this problem.
I've had to resort using the System Restore function, under Help and Support on the Start Menu. That fixes the problem, but I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO DO THAT!
So, why am I encountering both of these problems and what can I do to fix it?
I can help with your 1st prob. Under the rotation tab reset everythig to default. Then only use the toggle 90deg. left( I set the my hotkey to ctrl+alt+P ). I had the same prob as you the first time I set it up. for some reason it dosent change easily. Clear all hot keys to default and try again , save after each change. Sorry about the 2nd prob. thats very strange maybe there is a corrupt file in your driver. Try a re-install of the vid driver. Hope that will help you.
I had exactly the same problem with the exactly the same set up.
I went to Radeon's site and downlaoded the catalyst stuff and it worked for a while. Then it stopped rotating! So I uninstalled ALL Radeon software aand then reinstalled just the driver package (without the catalyst stuff).
