PowerConnect 6224F Connection Problems
Hi All,
We recently ran fiber throughout our district which includes 7 buildings. Fiber is run from each building back to the Main Building. At the main building. The fiber is patched from the patch panel to a Dell PowerConnect 6224F using SC to LC. The SFP Transceiver used in the 6224F is model FTRJ1319P1BTL.
At all other remote buildings, the fiber is patched SC to SC to a media converter that converts the fiber to ethernet, and the ethernet is then plugged into the firewall for that building.
I can get one of the remote buildings to light up, back at the high school, however, I cannot get any other buildings to light up. I have changed out media converters, patch cables, GBICs, I just do not understand why one building lights up, yet none of the others will not.
Is there something on the switch I need to change? Is the Transceiver I am using the right kind for this switch? Any help/suggestions offered would be great. The fiber works awesome for the one building, but that is it. Let me know if any logs of the switch would be beneficial.
Thank you for your time.
