Connecting with a wire, not wireless

So a month ago I ordered a Laptop for my mom.  Anyway, everything wound up alright, except the PC kept informing me that there were available wireless networks.  Which is fine, except those were not her wired network.  I could not stop the system from telling me every couple of minutes about the available wireless networks.  I am now getting my own Inspiron 9400 and plan on using it wired, but as I live in a condo I am sure I will pick up my neighbors wireless networks.  Is there a simple way for me to get the system to stick with the wired system?  And then a simple way to go wireless when my wireless router arrives?  Any help is appreciated?

Turn off the wireless radio using the Fn F2 key combination.  When you want it back on just hit the Fn F2 key combination again.

Perfect, thanks!  Now how do I go about getting the settings back to normal on my mom's computer?  I must have changed a million things to get the wireless working again.

Without knowing which things you changed, it's going to be difficult to tell you what to do.
