IP address problems with new router

I have an Inspiron 600m with the Intel Pro/Wireless card. I had a Belkin wireless router set up on my old Inspiron 8100. The wireless connection usually works fine with my Inspiron 600m but I recently bought a D-Link wireless router and now my Inspiron 600m is having problems obtaining an IP address from the new router. It'll work for a few minutes but then I lose the connection. I noticed that when I lose my connection with the D-Link router, my computer tries to use an IP address from the pool assigned by the Belkin router. When I try to use IP config to renew the IP address, the computer searches for a few minutes and tells me it can't obtain a new address.

Should I uninstall the Intel Pro/Wireless card or reinstall the drivers to solve this problem? Is there something else I can try to resolve this problem?

Thanks in advance.

It sounds from your message that you are running 2 wireless networks.  Is this the case?

No, I was borrowing a Belkin router from a friend and recently bought a D-Link router. I'm only running one wireless network. I've been having these problems ever since I installed the D-Link router and got rid of the Belkin one.

Well, I think I fixed the problem...for now. I uninstalled, reinstalled, and updated the driver for the Intel Pro/Wireless card and updated the firmware for the D-Link router. Everything seems to be working fine for now but I'll keep my fingers crossed. Thanks for your replies.

I had the same problem this morning. It turned out I had my old router on at the same time my new one was working. They confused by 2 computers. One had the old router's IP addresses and the other had the new one. Solution: keep only one router on at a time.

    Hope this helps.
