Networking problems
I have a problem with a home network, below is an explanation of my problem, it may seem complex but I've just tried to put in as much info as possible.
I have tried to set up a home network with two computers:
Computer 1: has XP SP2, norton personal firewall
Computer 2: XP SP2, McAfee virus scan
They are connected using a modem-router, internet access for both is fine.
When I try to access the network (set up using setup wizard, computer 1 browses to it very slowly and returns the message, network path not found. Computer 2 displays computer 1 in the network but will not access it.
I have the IP of computer 2 set to trusted zone in Norton firewall, file sharing is enabled as is NetBIOS.
When I run the network diagnostics for computer 1 the netowrk adaptor fail, when pinging its own address the ping times out.
Can anyone explain what I am doing wrong?

First, try eliminating the possibility that it is a firewall problem by totally disabling all firewalls.
