The Inspiron 1300 does not have a PCMCIA card slot, so buying one, will do you absolutely no good.  You will either need an Internal Mini PCI card, an Express Card wireless adapter to fit in the Express card slot  on your computer, or a USB wireless network adapter.  I beleive that Dell has just released an Express Card wireless network adapter, but few, if any other manufacturers have yet to release such new technology to the market.

I am afraid I am having the same problem you are.  I read one reply to you about the Expess card and how manufactuers do not have the technology for it as of yet.  When I purchased this laptop  from Dell, I was ASSURED it would network with my desktop thru my Netgear router.  As of yet, that has not happened.  If I get any help, I will certainly post it on this board.   I have been trying for two weeks and I am very, very frustrated.  I have the B130 laptop, also.

 

If you get a solution, please post it.  I will be working on it all day tomorrow, also.  This is just ridiculous.  I used to get such good customer service from Dell.  I don't know what has happened here.

I paid fifty dollars for this Express card that Dell said was the only one that would work.  I don't want to spend more money.  Surely, there is a way to make this one work?  Thank you , Cheryl
