Please help with internet
I have a E1705 and a Linksys wireless router with the Dell wireless card. Anyway it was working perfect this morning when I left to go to my dads. Well I took the laptop over there and he wanted to get on the internet with it. Well I had to set up a dialup connection for my laptop for him because he doesnt have cable. Well anyway it worked good over there. So later that night I came home and went to get on my wireless connection and it will not connect now. I have tried everything I know to do as usually everytime I power it up or open it Windows picks up the connection. I am not a real big computer whiz so if someone could walk me through how to fix it, it would be greatly apprieciated. I never have had the first problem with it. Even when I changed my hard drive as soon as I hit the power button I was on the web. I even deleted the dialup connection but its showing a wireless connection available just wont enable it to where I can get on. Someone please help me!!!

Well I tried to do what you wanted me too but could not come up with nothing. Anyway this is what I done. I took my USB wireless antenne from my desktop and installed it on my laptop. Worked good. After I done that I noticed that the Dell Card had starting picking up the signal too. So I connected using the Card and then removed the USB and as of right now its working. I dont know why it wont pick it up on its own. I know I have had a time with it, about 5 hours getting it back wireless. Of course I dont know a whole lot either. Does anyone know how come it wouldnt pick it up??? Thanks- If I were in the situation, I would want a complete and detailed record of all settings.
For me, the 'easy way' to do that is to download and install a free program 'EverNote'
Then, to capture and save a snippet, when you have some 'pane' that shows a setting or few, just use Alt-PrintScreen (captures to the clipboard).
Then, click the little down-pointing triangle at the lower right on EverNote, RIGHT-click in the space that opens up for a 'Note' and choose Paste, click the rubber stamp icon and make a new category to mark it (such as 'wireless') or, once you create the category, find and 'check' it to mark note type(s). This list is not only complete for me but each entry is stamped with the date and exact time. That way, when anything goes wrong later, you can pull up the EverNote endless timeline of notes and look to see what the setting was when it worked. tammy_bigb

My phone is just a normal ole Uniden cordless phone for the home. I do carry it around.
My cell is a motorola 710 I do not carry it around.
I have always packed my cordless around the computer. Never had any problems. I would love to know why windows overrides my settings that I am putting on the Dell WLan card utility screen. That is my problem now. I know you can fix it, I am just having a hard time describing how to tell you what is wrong. I do appriciate you trying to help me.tammy_bigb

Ok I will try that. I have also noticed once I did get it back online that when it is running it will drop connection now. It has dropped probably 3 times so far. I noticed that when it drops it, when I go back into the wireless configuration screen, it always has the first box checked which is "let windows configure my connection". As soon as I uncheck it and apply the settings my connection starts right back up. I dont know why it keeps unchecking itself. Do you know???
