Using hotspots on the road
I have the wirelss card installed on my Inspiron 8500 and the wireless router. I stopped using the router and put it away when my roomate moved out and I went back to using the ethernet connection. I am now going to have to do some traveling and if its possible to use my laptop on the road with the wireless card in it, I would ike to. I would like to test it out before taking it out on the road. I have gone back, enabled the Dell True Movbile PCi card. I clicked on the wireless connection in the task bar and it brought up some networks available. I feel certain these are neighbors who have not protected their servers or whatever. I don't want to test this out on their networks. Even just to test it out, I don't think they would appreciate my using their network. Any suggestions? To test it, I would not be sending out any personal info or care if anyone saw whatever site I visited to test it. I live near some hotels that cater to business travelers.
Also, once I find a network that is available, what do I do next? Do I have to do any configurations to the browser or anything? I don't want to screw up my internet connection I currently have for all of this.
