Wan Network

I've reinstalled Windows XP-MCE 2005 with a new install.
Now under Device Manager / Network Adapters I have a WAN Network Driver. It reports that everything is working fine. I can delete it but each time I reboot, Windows finds new hardware and reinstalls it.
Under Properties the maufacture is America OnLine Inc. I have used AOL in the past but not since I've reinstalled windows.
I'm using dial up thur wmconnect now.
If I don't disable this in Network Connections before I log on, I'm not going to stay online but about 10 minutes or so before I'm disconnected. No problem staying on after it's disabled.
It seems that I could leave it disabled for good. The only other strange thing that I've seen is in Network / Connections under Dial Up, my modem reports that its disconnected even though I online. It will not let me right click and do a properties check, well it will, but it doesn't do anything when I do.
Can anyone tell me what this WAN Driver is?
How to get rid of it?
If I need to or not?
Etc. etc.

If you've reinstalled Windows could it be possible that you have also reinstalled AOL as supplied by Dell? Go into the Add/Remove programs and see if AOL is in the program list. If it is then remove it if you are not using it.

I don't have AOL service reinstalled in my add\remove programs.

After looking at my WalMart connect software, it supports Instant Messenger and I can use AOL members.

    {You can include Wal-Mart Connect members, as well as Internet users that use the AOL Instant MessengerSM service in your Instant Messenger List groups.}

I'm just leaving the driver disabled under my Network Connections \ Lan or High Speed internet connections. I'm not having any problems staying on line that way.

I'm still showing Disconnected under my Dial-up\ WalMart even though I'm on line.

I still don't know how to remove the driver or what it's for?

    I tried this:

Removed all LAN\High Speed Internet connections under Network Connections (3)

Removed Modem and 3 Network devices in  Device Manager.

Reboted and  found new hardware....reinstalled Modem.

Network adapters (2) installed on their on.

        1394 Net Adapter

        Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit Controller

Now I can't find the other computer on my home network in Network places

Tried and tie online, get a wait to config modem screen and now I have a new network driver (WAN)  in Network Connections.
As before If I leave this enabled I cannot stay on line but just a few minutes. Disable it and I have no problem.

Under Windows Task Mananger\Networking while on line I have a graph that reads:
    Adapter Name: WAN(PPP/SLIP) Interface

Moden still reports disconnected under Network Connections\Dialup
I feel this WAN driver is something to do with the software that my ISP is providing. (WMConnect)

If I not using my modem to get on the net, what am I using?
