wireless and wired

I have my computer hooked up directly to the router.. but i also have wireless on this computer. Now, if my wireless is on while i am wired, which connection does it use, the wired one or the wireless? Or do they work together? Thanks in advance for any information.

Both of the connections will be connected but the internet will only use one of these connections.

Windows always gives priority to wired connection when more than one connection is active. If you want to change this priority, it is possible through a feature called ADAPTER SWITCHING which is supported by a few networks cards and it only works if both the wired and the Wireless network card is of the same make. For Eg: Intel Pro 10/100 Integrated Network Controller and Intel Pro/Wireless 2200 802.11b/g card.

hey guys, thanks for the information. much appreciated. but just one more question. Best-try said that you can switch the priority, but im just making sure that the default setting is that wired over-rides wireless.  Thanks again guys!
