Upgrading Dell Optiplex 5040 SFF;

Good morning. I have the following question.

Is it possible to change the Intel Core i5 6500 to the i7-6700 processor in

Dell Optiplex 5040 SFF ?

I would like to point out that both processors use the same socket - LGA1151.

Have a nice day,

    Yes i7-6700 can run in 5040.  I have a few units of 7040 which are similar to 5040, one running i7-6700 now

    Thank You for the quick reply.

    I have an additional question.

    Is it possible to upgrade the RAM from DDR3 to DDR4 in Optiplex 5040 SFF ?

    unfortunately no.  DDR3 ram slots can only work with DDR3.  It is physically and electrically incompatible with DDR4.

    in 5040, it is also limited to low voltage DDR3L only.

    Redxps630 beat me to it.  The 5040 can take up to 16GB of RAM, and that is it.

    I think redxps does this 24hrs./day.
