It seems that in my poweredge 1600sc it doesn't give me the option toboot from the CD. The CD I have is a NEC DVD+RW ND-1100A.

I have already tried the following:

Flushed the NVRAM (the trick with the J11 jumper) including the alt E and alt F tric I read here some where.

Updated the bios to version A09 (this is the latest version available from dell)

I have verified that the CD is the last device (and in my case the only device) on the ide cable.

If I can't get thiis thing to go I will have to consider a scsi cd, but I want to ensure that I only go this road once I have  tried everything else. anone out there has any experience with this and how well that works with linux in mind.

I can see that the drive is working well as I can see the drive happily from windows 2003 and it reads files from the cd like there is no tomorrow, but no way of making the thing bootable.

Any help appreciated.
