PLEASE HELP

Hi,
I would really appreciate if someone can help me with my Dell poweredge 4300 server that I just got. I have two issues that I have no idea why it is happening
1. When I turn it on it gives me an warning message that "One Power Supply inactive". Is there a setting I can do to fix that"
2. I have three hard drives installed. They all look fine but only one gets recognized. Anyone can let me know what can I do to test it out
Thanks

hello, when you have your server running, look at the back where the power supplies are.for starters,be sure all of them are plugged in. they have two lights on each one, one red and one green. power supplies that are running normally will have the green light lit up. if one has failed or a bad connection maybe, then the red one will come on. if you have a red light on one, try swapping it with a known power supply that works and see if that is the culprit. as for the hard drives, i would start out by taking them all out then one-by-one inserting them in each hard drive bay and listen for it to spin up and be detected by the server. this should tell you if it is a hard drive gone bad or your backplane board.backplane boards are going for under 50 bucks on ebay for this server, power supplies too! if this turns out to be your problem. hope this helps you determine your problem.....keep me posted....william.
