PowerEdge 2650 - Raid 5 Installation Questions
System Label: PowerEdge 2650
Operating System: Windows SBS 2003
I have a PERC 4-DC RAID controller and three hard disks of the same size. I also have the Backplane Daughter Board installed. I have 5 hard disks installed and I want three (maybe four) to be RAID5 and at least one of the other two independent, although the data I wish to store on these two drives I think I'll move to NAS at some point soon.
The server is already up and running and I want to set up Raid5. I have installed the cards and SCSI cables. The set up instructions (The paper ones not any messages on the screen) are telling me to format the drives but I want to retain the current OS setup. At this point I lost my bottle and shut the server down and disconnected the controller so I could bring the server back online in its current state.
I fully understand that I maybe a little over cautious but I really can not afford to lose the current OS setup.
Thank you in advance
Matt
