I have a second-hand 3620 and trying to work out the max cpu it can take.
It currently has an i7-6700 installed. However, searching through the forums, I've seen machines with either 6th or 7th gen cpu's. Is there a way I can find out if this machine can be upgraded to a 7th gen? i.e. provide the service tag?
Actually MS already gave a bit up under external pressure and officially said about considering to expand support to 7th gen and ryzen 1000.
Bottom line, there's still time for specs to change... it's too early to say it's an official dead end. Due to this, upgrading to 7th gen may actually make sense
Though it's in the Optiplex section, some CPU's are shared. I invite you to check out @Philip_Yip's post here in regards to CPU's and Win11. You'll know what's relevant to you and what's not.
