We recently bought a Precision 5820 workstation with a 950W PSU. We would like to use it with two nVidia Titan Xp GPUs, each of which has a power consumption of 250W. We believe that the 950W should be enough to power both GPUs. However, we have a problem with the power connectors.

Each of the GPUs requires a 8+6 pin power connector. The workstation came with a single cable that splits into 8 pin connectors (one of the can be transformed into a 6 pin connector). Thus for the moment, we can only plug one of the GPUs.

My question is then: is there a way to connect the 2nd GPU? For example: can I use Y splitters that split a 8 pin connector into 8 + 6 connectors? Would that be safe?
