Page Won't Print

Recently, my Dell 926 Photo Printer quit printing at mid page every time we printed a page..  After being unble to fix that, I uninstalled an re-installed the printer and up dated drivers.  The printer will now print the test page, but when I did a typed page (using WORD) the printer goes thru the motions of printing but there is nothing on the page.  Suggestions?

    evenstephen,

First run Delete Print Jobs to remove stuck print job(s) from the queue, then restart your computer.

Open the Word document. Click on file, print, then make sure the proper printer is selected.

    Thanks for your help!!

....no items in print folder.  Test page still prints as it should, but my typed document gets "spit-out" as a blank page.

    Ken,

    Trying to isolate the problem.

Can you copy a document under the glass? Black and white and color?

...should I remove the printer and re-install from the original disk?

    Ken,

The printer should work like a photocopier. If it's not printing like a copier, then it may be ink cartridge related.

I loaded two new Black and Color cartridges into the printer and it again copied in color.  I then tried to print a short leter and nothing was printed on the page.  I also re-installed the printer from the original disk---still won't print a letter, but still prints the test page.

    I open to any suggestions.

    Ken,

If the printer can copy a document under the glass, black and white and color, then it will be a driver issue.

Make and model of your computer and operating system? 32-bit or 64-bit? Was the operating system recently installed/reinstalled/upgraded?

What virus program and firewall are you using?

    It is a DELL Photo All-In-One Printer 926  2007

The PC is a DELL Inspiron 5315.  The operating system has not been re-installed.  I use AVG virus protection.

I don't know how to find the "bit".  I see no reference to that in the manual.

    Thanks

    Ken,

AVG has been known to block printer communications.

    Try reading...

Allow Wireless Printer Blocked by AVG 8.0 Firewall

If that does not work, then uninstall AVG, restart the computer. Then try to print. If it works, then try reinstalling AVG.

    Rick:

"The best solution would be to find out from HP exactly what ports are used by their printer, and allow them on through the firewall."

That seems to be the best solution but I don't know how to start that process.  How would I find the "ports"?
