I have a Dell 1410x projector. The projector comes on for a while, displaying the expected image and then turns off with the lamp light on orange. If I turn the power off to the projector and turn it back on, the image comes back on for a short time and then turns off again. Sometimes it can be on for several hours and then sometimes it only stays on for a few minutes.

According to the manual, the lamp light on orange indicates that the lamp needs to be replaced, but can the lamp really need replacing, even if it does display an image for a while, or is it possible there is something else wrong.
