Quite often, for whatever strange reason while I have a virtual console screen open with an .iso attached media loading (AlmaLinux 8 for example), the screen goes blank and I only see the mouse moving around. This happens maybe 1 out of 8 sessions or so, not sure why. I have to reboot the server again. This has happened in different stages of the iso loaded media. For example, during o/s install, or post "reboot now" after o/s is done installing, and other times on main o/s install screen once I click "next" blue button in AlmaLinux. Replicated with other Linux flavors. Replicated on multiple Dell R640 servers, 100% same hardware and firmware/drivers.
I had this problem also trying to install RHEL 8 over mounted media, onscreen keyboard is unresponsive also.
I found the only way I could complete a build is to keep the session 'active' in whatever way possible. move the mouse, press any keys, etc. however the only way to recover from it was a system reboot, only once did a racreset work.
off-topic, but the data rate when mounting an ISO over virtual media is horrific on idrac9 now. this is running the latest version(s) 6.10.80 and 7.00.00. Actually there have been quite a few issues with the newer iDRACs we are uncovering on our g15 servers.
Thanks for the feedback. It would be good to raise a case through the support line to have the engineering know about the issues you found on the new iDRAC firmware.

Hello BashRoot,
1 out of 8 is tough to troubleshoot
Can you think of any similar on the times it happens that is not the same on all the other times?
Have you tried Physical media at the host instead of mapped media?
Have you tried the onscreen keyboard when it goes black to bring it back?
Try clear browser cache and try different browsers.
See if this matches what you are seeing: Blank video in the iDRAC Virtual Console after adding a PCIe video card to a Dell EMC PowerEdge Server

Does it happen on different OS?
For a test, could you try a Microsoft Evaluation copy of WS2022 if you don't have one:
