I am owning a Dell Inspiron 510m  with Win XP home edition since past one year and it has just come out of the standard 1 year warranty.

 

I used the Power button on one occasion to swtich off  my laptop, and when I turned it on back again, all short cuts were not working ( including those of Stadard Windows programs).In order to solve the problem , I tried to restore the previous settings using a registry back up on my laptop.

 

Since then , it has been failing to boot ( even in safe mode ) and gives me the following blue screen error :

 

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut don to prevent damage to your computer.If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen , restart your computer.If this screen appears again,follow these steps :
Check for viruses on your computer.Remove any newly installed hard drive controllers.Check your hard drive to mae sure it is properly configured and terminated.Run CHKDSK /F for hard drive corruption , and then restart your computer.

It seems the registry information hs been corrupted.I have no problems reinstalling everything again, but I dont want to lose my data.Could anyone please suggest me a solution for this problem.
