The system process in my Task Manager accounts for 50% of my CPU usage even when I have no applications running. If I tried to do anything the CPU usage would shoot up to 75-100% and I'd eventually get a BSOD.
After some troubleshooting I discovered it was the DVD drive. When playing ordinary DVDs and CDs my CPU usage was normal but as I had just brought Half Life 2, it seems to be a driver problem with the way it reads copy-protected DVDs. It's a lottery when I try to play Half Life 2 as it doesn't always startup before the system crashes :(
Searched for updated drivers etc but I maybe looking in the wrong place.
I tried to install it but it seems to be a floppy disk image file (it's telling me I have no floppy drives). Thinking floppys were now obsolete I neglected to get one for my new system. I'm going to try write the image on to a CD to see if that works but is there any other alternatives or workarounds?
Use the Product Support Tab above, click on Downloads, enter information for your system and look under Removeable Media Storage Devices, a firmware update will be there.
Best Regards

Dell has a Windows Base flash for this drive, when you found the listed firmware, A06, you should see a link that says "Previous Versions", you need A05, which is the same update as A06, just a different format.
