ide confidence test
I think we experienced a quick power surge on a recent windy day (50mph). The computer flashed on and off, went to black, but I was able to retrieve the file I was working on. The computer worked fine for a few hours. I turned it off and booted it up the next day. It would not boot.
The message I receive on a black screen is: "we apologize, windows did not start successfully, a recent change in hardware may have caused this to occur...". I attempted a normal start-up, and all the safety start-ups, it still will not boot.
I ran a comprehensive diagnostic. Everything was checked off EXCEPT the IDE confidence test.
The error code: 1100:012A "the drive did not respond in a fixed time to an access attempt." We've run all the tests and this is the only information I am receiving.
