Ever since I got my dell some of the programs it came with wouldnt work. they wouldnt load or they gave me an error. I didnt really need the programs so I didnt bother trying to fix it. Now some programs that I need are doing the same thing. It gives me an invalid path message or some other error. everyone I talk to says it has to be my computer and most have never seen this problem. When I call dell the wait is always over 10 minutes and Im on my cell so I dont want to wait that long LOL
I would go to their websites if possible and see if you can download the applications again or even newer versions. You may want to run a scan disk check as well to see if there are any errors on your harddrive?
Ive been to all the sites and help forums, and they all say it has to be my computer. I then tried the programs on my brothers dell and my moms vaio and they work fine. I think it came messed up cause the preinstalled programs do the same thing.
How do I do a scan disk check?
I think Dell might have to come fix it or replace it if its messed up.
You might want to check here or with Dell to see if they had preinstalled an image on another partition on your drive so that you could restore that image? I just found out that my new 8400's have such an image, they call it PCrestore. I'm not sure if rhe 8200 has it or not and don't know when they made your system? This PCrestore may be a new application/process now, I'm not sure? As far as scan disk, go to My Computer then right click on your C-drive and choose Properties/Tools/error check that will take a little time-? and check the disc (harddrive) for any errors. People don't run that to much anymore, but we use to run it often pre-Win95. When that is done you should run defragmenter as long as your doing the maintainence which is also in the Tools box.
Oh? Thank You, I did not know that, but then why would I? Since I just started doing business with Dell this fall and the other reason might be because Dell doesn't share with their customers' until thewy have probably already gone to far trying to repair their systems if problems arise. I never knew about PC restore but it sounds like a fantastic utility that's worth its weight in Gold!
Bev should be able to help you on using the restore.
But I am under the impression it will restore your whole drive so be carefull if you decide to run it, any files that on your C drive may be lost forever. I think it restores the system to the day it was shipped from Dell.
I would say it a good tool but have to be aware of what it does.
