iDRAC 9 enterprise SMTP configuration

Hi,

I'm struggling with the SMTP configuration. I keep getting the RAC0225 error (unable to send test email).

My settings :

- A few alerts are ticked

- Two emails addresses are setup and activated

- SMTP server IP address

- Personalized sender address (I've tried with the default too)

- SMTP port 25

- No auth needed

In the common network settings :

- DNS registration is enabled (I've tried disabled too)

- DNS name is setup "iDRAC-SRVREPLICA"

- Automatic domain name configuration can't be changed

- Domain is setup. The same as our WIndows domain. (I've tried our email domain too)

- Registration time interval 0 seconds

- Connexion vue enabled

- Both LLDP options disabled

- The iDRAC has an IP, a gateway, a netmask and two DNS servers from the domain

Tests I've done :

- ping the smtp server from the racadm

- ping both DNS servers from the racadm

- send to another email address (gmail)

- Reset the iDRAC

- "testemail" from racadm, same result

SMTP server side :

I see a "EHLO" immediately followed by a "QUIT" (Windows server 2019).

Configuration :

- DELL PowerEdge R540

- ESXi 6.7 U3

- iDRAC version 4.22.00.00 (july 20)

What's strange is that there is an iDRAC 8 server with basically the same configuration and it's working just fine.

Any idea ?

Thanks

    Hi,

I don't think that is any logs we can refer to on this issue. You're on 4.22 version of iDRAC right? Can I know if the email server has encrypted email? If non, you probably would try disable the email encryption in RACADM.

    racadm set idrac.RemoteHosts.ConnectionEncryption None

    Hi,

That's weird if the same configuration used in iDRAC8 works but 9 does not. Have you tried configuring the SMTP email server address; https://dell.to/2FkOHRq ? Also, have you rebooted the managed system and test send an email alert?

You mentioned about the test you have done, what were the results?

Let me know if it helps.

    Hi,

I've tested both IP address and FQDN for the SMTP server.

I've reset the iDRAC a few times and updated to the latest version.

Doesn't matter what I try I get the RAC0225 error on the web GUI and a longer message saying the test couldn't be performed and I should check the settings in the RACADM.

Is there a way to get more verbose logs ?

This did not work for me. I have tried literally everything i can find. SMTP server works on other servers.

Hello, could you please state your issue in detail? Do you have any screenshots/images to attach? That would be helpful.
