My head is going to explode! I have been dealing with an issues regarding failed internet connection attempts. I have Windows XP OS. The first issue started about a week ago or so. I tried logging onto the internet via my cable modem and got nothing. I tried a few times to go through my dial-up connection and succeeded after almost 5 hours of trying.

 

Now, I am not able to get on at all it seems. The dial-up connection just fails. I use Earthlink and can initially get on but then it stops responding. The other day my cable modem just went "poof" and stopped working completely. I got a new cable modem and it worked momentarily but stopped after about an hour or so. I am totally confused on what to do.

 

I keep getting error messages regarding my Protel (?) and when I try to connect using my cable modem it says connected then trying to acquire IP address but never does.

 

Any solutions?
