EMC has both File and Block storages and also Unified ones. If you would like to go with enterprise file storage you can make use of ISILON which is based on OneFS also, VNX unfied series should be able to fit in your requirements.
From my perspective, it really depends on the requirement you have. if you are comparing NetApp cluster mode with VMAX, it would not make sense for me coz, Both work on different concepts and have different features. In terms of SAN ofcourse, EMC VMAX would have a upper hand. if you are talking about file access then it depends on what the requirement is and which one would fit in depending on COST/Features/management compatibility etc.
Could you please elaborate the requirement you have based on which i will try to suggest or recommend few things based on my experience.
