boot from iscsi target
I have successfully configured a windows 2008 r2 server to boot from a iscsi target on the vnxe.
Not sure if any else has done this.
Everything appears to be working nicely except for one thing. There is always one thing it seems.
Anyway on a regular interval in the windows event log I get iScsiPrt errors such as:
"A connection to the target was lost, but initiator successfully reconnected to the target"
or
"The initiator could not send an iScsi PDU"
or
"Connection to target was lost. The initiator will attempt to retry connection."
The message always appear together and it is always recovering.
I woudl like to solve this mystery as something is not just right yet.
Using the latest vnxe firmware.
Has anyone else seen this type of error, is it a problem on the vnxe or in windows it is just not clear to me on this one where the root cause is.
Marco

Hi ,
I have seen this in many customers with and without boot from san.
Please refer the article in the below http://support.microsoft.com/kb/937938
I have taken traces in customer environments and it is just a false message.
I think this should answer your question.
Thanks,
Rohan raj.

I was able to remove all the messages by giving ip address to nics within windows, even though the nic themselves were configured with ip addresses within the nic iscsi bios so that I could boot from san.
