File share migration - long distance

hi all,

we have a VNX 5500 and we are in process of migrating file shares to this VNX.

we have file shares to be migrated at the location which is far enough from where the VNX is located, so its not possible to migrate 4TB data over the wan using emcopy,

I have thought of taking a backup of the file shares data and then restore along with permissions on to the VNX share since we use symantec backup exec at both the locations.

is this the correct approach that i am following or is there another way to migrate data along with permissions?.

That should work, after you restore from tape you can follow up with emcopy to catch any changed/new files.
