VNX data flow
Hi All,
Am a newbie to VNX and we are in the process of purchasing 1XVNX 5700.
Q:
Since we have DART and FLARE, how does data flow?
Like a Celera is it - Network > DART > FLARE>FLare LUNs (For NFS and CIFS shares)
and
Like a Clarion is it - host>SAN>Flare>LUNs (For FC LUNs)
I humbly seek a detailed response to the same

Ok.
My understanding -
1. Host from SAN talk to FLARE>LUNs. They do NOT go throught the DART
2. Datamover is a like a host. So, DART speaks to FLARE and then accesses Storage
3. Thus it like a gateway model.
DART>Clariion>Flare>LUNs
AND
SAN>Clariion>Flare>LUNs
4. Hosts on SAN have no relation to DART
Please confirm.

Hi Ash,
They are no big difference between the old fashion DART and FLARE.
VNX always use SP for SAN access [iSCSI, FC, FCOE] ans X-Blade/DataMover for NAS access [NFS,CIFS,MPFS]
DataMover is like a host so you have to give him access to the storage. Only BIG difference between NS series is that tou can use pool and the feature FAST.
