I assume the XP Pro CD is not the upgrade version. Probably best as you would need a Win98, WinMe or Win2k disk if a clean reinstall was ever needed. If you have a 4.3Gb or larger drive lying around try a clean install. If it works OK, clone it to the 20Gb. You can download necessary XP drivers for the 330 from Dell Support. Just key in Service Code on the 330 and look for driver downloads.
Windows XP Professional is built on the code base of Windows 2000. Windows XP Professional device drivers are built on the device driver verifier found with Windows 2000. XP Pro probably couldn't tell who was the mother and who was the child when it analyzed system files. My best guess on this issue. Someone else may have a more precise explanation.
