I am attempting to attach a picture to e-mail and Windows offers to downsize the file, then directs me to MSN. However, I am using Outlook and Comcast so none of my pictures are reduced in size. Where can I change the default to direct this process to my Outlook e-mail? Thanks
Ok, maybe Outlook is not your default e-mail program. Try this: Start Internet Explorer. Select Tools, Internet Options from the menu. Go to the Programs tab. Make sure Microsoft Office Outlook or Microsoft Outlook is selected under E-mail. Click OK.
Thanks Osprey - I have that part figured out , but cannot resize the file for transmission. The problem I have is if I start with the picture and under File and Folder Tasks I click on E-mail this file, Windows offers to resize the picture for faster transmission. If I click OK, Windows then sends me to MSN, which is not the program I use for my e-mail. There must be a default setting somewhere that can redirect this resize function to my e-mail program. Hope I am making sense -- Thanks again
The easiest tool I found to resize my 12 megapixel photos for e-mailing came from Microsoft's "Powertoys For Windows XP". After installing this small program, to resize a photo you simply right click on the file and choose the size you want. It creates a new photo/file and you still have your original.
Thanks Osprey - Outlook is my default e-mail so must be somewhere else. In the meantime, I think I will check out RJE49's suggestions about PowerTools for Windows xp. Thanks again to all donann
Look down the list of "toys" for "Image Resizer". I found it in a PC World magazine reference. Apparently, it's an "unsupported" Microsoft program. Whatever that means. As long as it works...
