Black screen with cursor before displaying login screen for windows 7.
Hi,
I have Dell XPS 17 L702x machine with windows 7 preinstalled on it.
Lately I have observed that my windows 7 boots up very slowly and when laptop is booting up it stays there at windows 7 logo for approx 20 or 30 seconds after it displays black screen ( I can see cursor on it and can move it) for few more seconds and then displays logging screen.
Actually few weeks before the total boot time of my laptop was less than a minute, but now it takes around 3 minutes for desktop screen to appear.
I had checked with Autoruns (by Microsoft) but i did not see anything weird.
Could any one help me how do i fix this black screen before windows 7 login screen. Is there any tweak i need to do or any registry settings i need to check?.
I just wanted to try any other suggestions/fixes, before i go for restoring it to factory settings.
Thanks you,
Regards.
Raghu.

Hi Raghu,
Let’s try the following steps:
Drain the residual power from the laptop:
If the above steps do not work, then perform the diagnostics on the computer to check the functionality of the hardware.
Note: If you wait too long and the Microsoft Windows appear, then continue to wait until you see the Windows desktop. Now shutdown your computer and try again.
Alternately, run the Fixit to increase the performance.
