Cannot copy and paste .exe file

Hi guys, win xp seem to be blocking me from transferring an .exe file from one folder into another. Is there a windows setting that I need to change? Thanks in advance!

Do you get an error message?

"...transferring... - please be more precise. Are you trying to copy/paste the .exe into a new folder? Are you dragging it into a new folder? Is the .exe running when you try to move it?

Is this any/all .exe or just a specific one?

Is your antiviral, anti-malware software doing something...?

Hi Ron, yes the problem occurs when I try to copy/paste or drag/drop the exe file from one folder to another on my Dell laptop. I tried to disable my antiviral software but it did not help.

I have not tried moving other exe files. However, I tried this on my Dell desktop (also win xp), and I was able to move the exe file.

The exe file is in a zip file which was downloaded, and I am trying to move it to a CF card through a usb card reader.

Does any copy/paste work on this system, and is the problem just with .exe?

Yes, copy/paste works on this system and on other exe files I tested. It does not work for this particular exe file which is in a zip file. However I can copy/paste in without problems in another PC.

I'm stumped unless there was a problem with the download itself. Have you tried deleting this file and downloading it again?
