Hello I have been struggling with a problem for a month (since I got this new Dell Dimension 3000) I cannot send any email but can receive them, I have called my ISP numerous times to see if the problem came from them they gave me a negative anwer. After resetting the pop3 and smtp accounts several times the problem is still there. I have reinstalled Window XP twice and have erased all previous settings with the help of Dell tech support, right now I do not have any antivirus installed and it does not change anything.
Currently I am using Thunderbird.
The response I get when I try to send or respond to an email is
" ...........The mail server responded 5.7.1 Relaying denied.IP name possibly forged........
With Outlook express6 I used before it was
***
The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected
by the server. The rejected e-mail address was 'jcapps@adnc.com'. Subject
'Re: test from Jim', Account: 'pop3.ixpres', Server: 'smtp.ixpres.com',
Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 5.7.1 <***@**.com>... Relaying
denied. IP name possibly forged [66.53.90.175]', Port: 25, Secure(SSL):
No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79
*******
I can send an email to myself with both programs.
I have another Dell computer with Windows98 I can send and retrieve emails without any problems using Thunderbird and the same ISP.
Nobody seems to have an answer, do you have one?
Thanks a million.
Thanks for your answer Chris, I tried with Incredimail and Outlook express6,I almost downloaded Eudora light that I did not use for years but I am affraid it will do the same plus their ads are annoying. I have read in a forum that we can try port 26 instead of 25 so I will if changing the port# is effective.
1. Check your outgoing server setting on the Windows 98 machine that you mentioned and confirm that it is the same as the new machine in Outlook.
2. After confirming the outgoing mail server look at the bottom of the server tab and check "my outgoing mail requires authentication" and try to send.
3. If that does not work go back into you acccount settings under the servers section and click the settings button next to the "my outgoing mail requires authentication" selection. Then select "logon" using and put the passwords for the email address that you got with your ISP. If the email address is provided by your ISP then use the username and password for that email address.

Can you setup a different e-mail software (other then Thunderbird) and see if that sends?
