Maybe java got corrupted? I'd delete it and follow with a new clean reinstall of it. I believe that the java site has a green colored box that you can click to run their test to verify that your java is functioning correctly; might try that as well.

 

If I remember correctly, I think it's worded as "verify installation"... or "verify java"...

I started having exactly the same problem in the last few days with that Javascript message at youtube.com with Netscape 7.2. Javascript is activated in Netscape and I have the latest version of Flash.

 

I can access Flash videos using Netscape at every other site I've been at, except youtube. And I can access youtube videos with IE6. I'm beginning to suspect either one of the recent Microsoft or McAfee VirusScan updates did it to me (us). :(

 

There are some proposed solutions here, but I haven't found a fix that works for me yet....

I think I might have interpreted the two terms java and javascript incorrectly; I'd follow Ron's advice there...  Mine has never acted up so I'm not positive about the specific problem.

Originally I thought it was java; not too sure now... 

I just got the following email from youtube tech support:

I don't have ad-blocking enabled (unless McAfee did it when I wasn't looking) so that's not a solution for me.

See the thing is youtube works fine.. it seems to be just facebook.

 

Also when i click the test page for javascript you gave me it just shuts down my firefox.. just closes the window itself :\

 

 

Very strange! You can't use facebook and I can't use youtube. Don't belong to facebook so I can't test it.

 

There were previous problems with javascript causing Firefox to crash. Do you have the latest version 2.0.0.12 which fixed a security flaw with javascript?

There are some claims that this problem could be a registry error caused by Javascript, but use registry cleaners with caution. ;)

Hi there.. still having this problem.. Limewire has also stopped working, as is the facebook page.

I really don't want to do a reinstallation/format of my computer so any other ideas someone?! :smileysad:

Oy Vay...   Limewire, and what harm it can do to ones' computer certainly adds a fly to the ointment.

I don't think limewire by itself does any harm to a computer.   I have had it for several years on my computers and it has never caused any problems so far.  It is what you can potentially download using limewire that can cause problems.
