I have a 12 year old sister who enjoys putting spyware on our Dimension 8300. Last night, she had put a ton of it on our computer, and I used Ad-aware to try to remove it. Ad-aware was not able to remove all the spyware, and I received a message saying that Ad-aware would run after the computer was next booted and remove the remaining spyware. For some reason, I went into Control Panel then Add/Remove Programs and started to uninstall the programs I knew were spyware or something I had not installed. After uninstalling one such program (I cannot remember what), I received a message that the program would be removed after reboot and I had to click the "Ok" button which would then reboot the computer in order to fully remove the program. After clicking "OK" and after the computer had rebooted, I tried to log in to my account on Windows XP. Whenever I do so, I see the background wallpaper but no icons and no start menu or things of that sort. Almost immediately, I am logged off and taken back to the log in screen.
I have no idea how to begin dealing with this problem, and if anyone has any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated.
