If you want it all gone you will have to uninstall what you mentioned.

However, all you really need to uninstall is the Sonic DLA, the rest will co-exist with another CD burning program.  The DLA is the UDF formatting program, equivalent to Roxio's "drag to disc" (Used to be called Direct CD).  You can only have one UDF formatting program.

One of my customers has both Sonic and Roxio installed on his PC without problems (with the DLA uninstalled).

I don't do a lot of CD burning so I'd rather just use the "CD Writing Tasks" options right in Windows XP, so I decided to uninstall Sonic RecordNow. I uninstalled all of the Sonic applications. The problem is that I don't have the "CD Writing Tasks" options when I go into My Computer and double-click the CD drive. I checked my desktop and the options show up there, but they're nowhere to be found on my laptop. This basically means I am now totally incapable of buring a CD or erasing a CD-RW, because I have no way of telling the computer to do it. I've tried dragging files to the CD drive but I get an error message saying that the drive is inaccessible. Does this have something to do with Sonic RecordNow? Whether it does or doesn't, how can I get the "CD Writing Tasks" options to show up?

hawkeyes2002, you have an entirely different issue and you should have posted a new (separate) thread instead of posting a different question to an existing thread.

But, the Sonic program, or any CD burning program is not an issue with the built in Windows CD burning (that is done by dragging/copying files to a CD in the Windows Explorer).

However, the Windows program is not a full feature CD burning program and is only for limited function CD burning.  You should reinstall Sonic, or another CD burning program of your choice for full feature Data and Audio CD burning.

If you want more info on your specific question, start a new post.

Thank you very much Firebird...But I understand that after deleting the DLA the rest of Sonic programs won't function. So what is the value of keeping them unless this would make it easier to reinstall Sonic if needed.

From the Control Panel – Add/Remove Programs, you can select just DLA by itself to uninstall.

This should not have any effect on any other program. If you did have a problem, uninstall all of Sonic, then reinstall. I don't recall seeing DLA in Custom settings… If it is, don't install it. If not, let the install run then remove DLA as outlined.
