Waking up from sleep mode - rpcss.dll problem

I have a Latitude D820 with Windows XP and when I wake up my computer after it has been asleep for more than an hour it produces an error message so kindly informing me that Generic Host Process for Win32 has encountered a problem and needs to close. After the reboot Windows enforces, I check the Windows Event Viewer to find several EventSystem errors detailing COM+ functions returning various HRESULTs, and all these errors occur seconds after (and I think depend upon) a single Application Error, whose description is reproduced below:

Faulting application svchost.exe, version 5.1.2600.2180, faulting module rpcss.dll, version 5.1.2600.2726, fault address 0x0001f4f9.

I will be using the sleep feature quite a bit when I go back to school in a week, and I would rather not have to completely reinstall my OS. Please help!
